  • What is EPIC?

EPIC is a youth program for 5th-12th grade students and is open to any youth in the community with parent permission.  EPIC is a safe place to kids to grow, ask questions about God, Jesus, the Bible, and what it means to follow Jesus every day.  We value developing relationships with one another, with leaders, and with God.  This year all students will be studying the Bible with a new curriculum called "Believe."  This curriculum is designed to provide students with an opportunity to grow in their belief and trust in the God of the Bible, which can set the course of every student's life on a new trajectory of fixing their eyes on God alone.

    We want students to:

    • Develop a language for what they believe about God and why
    • See how God's people had an active belief and trust in God through the stories of the Bible
    • Share with each other their own observations of the Bible and God
    • Answer the questions: What do I believe?  What do I do? and Who am I becoming?
    • Practice believing, trusting, and relation with God in new ways, and experience genuine transformation in their ways of seeing and living in the world.

  • Confirmation & EPIC

Participation in EPIC does not require a student to be enrolled in Confirmation.  Nor does it require a student to regularly attend Immanuel!  Many students and families value the Confirmation program, so it is still our intent to pass on the Gospel of Jesus through this program!

Immanuel's Confirmation program is for the 6-8th grade years.  This year Confirmation students will be studying the Old Testament with "The Story" curriculum along with the Lutheran Sacraments and other core beliefs.  The 8th Grade Affirmation of Baptism service will be on Sunday May 4, 2024. Along with participation at EPIC on Wednesdays, Confirmation students will have a series of classes on Sunday mornings, and also do sermon notes, two reflections on how they are experiencing God in their lives, and attend Bible Camp or Christian retreats throughout their Confirmation years.  Again, any students can be part of Confirmation, but we need to know that is what is wanted!  Students fulfilling the expectations of the Confirmation program will be confirmed in the spring of their 8th grade year.
