Who We Are


Immanuel Lutheran Church is located in Story City, Iowa, 10 miles north of Ames and Iowa State University. We have excellent music and youth programs and numerous mission efforts. Our pastors participate in the active area ministerial association. 


Immanuel is a thriving congregation of people of all ages. 

Our mission is to build strong relationships in Christ and make Him known to all. 


We are affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), an international fellowship of congregations that focus on the authority of God’s Holy Word and the desire to spread the Good News of the Gospel to all both near and far.

Our Mission Story


During our 115th anniversary in 2013, we held a series of Sketching Our Story events and interviews to gather people's stories of our congregation's mission journey. As part of his Doctor of Ministry studies, Pastor Kurt combined those stories with research into Immanuel's history to create a Missional Biography of the congregation.
